Music Notes
Posted November 13 2008Speech Night Rehearsals
Junior Orchestra and Little Symphony musicians should have already received a schedule of rehearsals. Senior Orchestra and Concert Band musicians will receive a rehearsal schedule during the exams (no Senior rehearsals are scheduled during the exam period but there will be normal Senior rehearsals next week).
If you do not receive a schedule please contact me (Lynley Bramble BH 9807 8888 AH 9803 7701 email lbramble@huntingtower.vic.edu.au) as it is essential that every player attends every rehearsal please.
There will be a special Senior Orchestra Break-up Tea and Rehearsal on Sunday 30 November.
5.00pm – 8.00pm (Senior Orchestra)
8.00pm – 9.00pm (String Orchestra)
This is compulsory for all players please. So please let me know immediately if there is a problem. Many thanks to all players for their fantastic work and all the very best for the exams.
Solo Concerts
Sincere appreciation is extended to every student from every year level who has performed throughout 2008. Our musicians are at all stages of musical development and we thoroughly enjoy, support and appreciate every performance and apprecriate also the emerging talent inherent in each performer. The audiences have also been warm and enthusiastic – many thanks to you all for your great support.
We have just enjoyed a wonderful concert given by our Year 10 students some of whom were being assessed for their music performance subject. Each performer gave a 10 minute recital and we congratulate every student for the professional way in which every item was presented. Once again we were extremely fortunate to have an extremely enthusiastic and supportive audience.
During the holidays and early in the term we also had magnificent recitals by some of our VCE Unit 3/4 Music Group and Solo Performance students. Hearty congratulations to all our VCE performance students who have worked constantly for many years to reach such a high standard.
We have also enjoyed amazing performances from our year 7 students some of whom have only just started learning instruments recently and have made wonderful progress in such a short time. We also enjoyed a delightful Junior “Wind and Friends” concert where we had more magnificent performance from a variety of our talented Junior musicians.
Our final solo concert for 2008 will be held next Thursday 20 November at 6.00pm in the Performing Arts Centre. We are looking forward to some delighful solos from Years Prep, 1 and 2 students and the Little Choir and Little Symphony will also perform so please come along for a great evening’s entertainment.
Hearty Congratulations and sincere thanks to:
1. Middle School Orchestra, Concert Band and Senior Orchestra for entertaining a large audience at the Fete. Many passerby took the opportunity to rest their weary legs and enthusiastically enjoy some great music from all groups.
2. Middle School Orchestra who also performed beautifully at Orientation Day for the 2009 Year 7 students and their parents. We hope that many of the 2009 Year 7 students will join our orchestras and Concert Band next year – two prospective musicians are already coming to look at instruments this weekend!
3. Elliot Kitchingman, Liam Oborne, Dean Lee, Dennis Kong, Si Si Yu and Rachel Kannegiesser for receiving High Distinctions at the recent AMEB exams. Hearty congratulations to all our AMEB candidates for the wonderful standard reached by you all.
