“We have all the power we need to create all the change we choose”
Greg Braden
As most of you will be aware, our current Junior School Headmistress, Tansy Cruttenden, leaves for the UK in December, to take up her new position as Head of Junior School at Claremont Fan Court School in 2010. We are very pleased to announce that for 2010 our new interim Junior School Headmistress will be none other than Ms Dot Greiveson. Ms Greiveson has been associated with Huntingtower for about 30 years, had three daughters go through the Junior School and is currently on the School Executive. She is an extremely talented administrator and will bring a new flavour to the school while retaining all the wonderful work of her predecessors. While she will be missed in the Senior School, she will continue to teach her Year 12 English class, and the Junior School Philosophy and extension Maths classes will be taken by Ms Kuhne, the Junior School librarian. I know that Ms Greiveson will be given a warm welcome by everyone associated with the Junior School.
The Year 12 students have now finished their exams and by all accounts, they were very happy with their preparation. We look forward to seeing how they have performed and we know that they will get whatever result they need to take them to the next step on their life path. I am very grateful to the teachers who have worked so hard over the past 13 or 14 years, to prepare them for this important step in their lives. We must remember that it is the values, character and attitudes that they have developed over this time that will make them successful adults.
The rest of the Senior School are currently doing their exams or are about to start. I am sure that they are all preparing themselves well and that they will achieve all that they deserve.
The Fete was an amazing success thanks to the enormous effort put in by the PTA Committee and the Class Fete Representatives. It was a beautiful day and in combining it with the past students’ sports day, many old students came along and also many others were drawn to watch the matches.
It was good to see so many children and adults enjoying the day. The food was excellent, the various goods on offer were attractive and the atmosphere was warm, friendly and welcoming. What more could we ask for? It appears that we will have raised a good sum to go towards our new Sport and Fitness Centre, which incorporates our new aquatic centre.
As the year draws rapidly to a close and the Christmas decorations are on sale in the shops it is timely to remember those less fortunate. It was brought to my attention that over the last 6 years alone, our students have collected over $20 000 for World Vision. This is an amazing effort from our small student body. We also raise money for numerous other charities from the Smith Family and the local Relief Network to the Salvation Army and the Red Cross Doorknock Appeal. It is through the generosity and kindness of our whole community that we are able to raise gifts for these organisations. Through the Simunye Project and the Oaktree Foundation we have been able to spread our thought internationally and much good work has been done to support children in Africa. Thank you to everyone involved.
I look forward to seeing you all at the Junior School Speech Night in the PAC at Huntingtower and the Senior School Speech Day and Prize Giving at the Robert Blackwood Hall, Monash University.
I wish you all a good rest, a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Huntingtower Fete
Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers that helped with the Fete on the 7th of November. We all had a fabulous day, despite losing the major ride to an interstate truck breakdown. It was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with old friends, grab a few bargains and enjoy the festive atmosphere. The PTA is very grateful to all the Fete Reps, Class Reps, Parents, Relatives, Teachers, Friends and Students that helped on the day. There were 37 stalls, of which 11 were student run. The students did a terrific job, together raising $2,500 and adding variety and fun to the day.

Posted November 05 2009Thought for the week
“We must look where we would walk, and we must ACT as possessing all power from Him in whom we have our Being”.
Mary Baker Eddy
Last week I had the privilege of seeing the conclusion of the World Solar Car Challenge as approximately 35 solar cars completed their journey from Darwin to Adelaide. Our sister school/university, Principia College, which is based in Illinois in the USA was represented and did extremely well, winning the “Safety Prize” and crossing the line in 7th place. Five team members travelled to Melbourne to share their experience with the Huntingtower students. It was inspirational for us all to hear how their absolute reliance on God and their determination to focus on doing their best rather than “better” than others, carried them through many interesting challenges. They started each day by all sitting together and reading the “Christian Science Bible Lesson” and sharing thoughts about Gods constant protection and guidance. One instance of this protection which they shared with us was when on their final approach they had to break extremely hard in an emergency stop and all of their breaking mechanisms broke due to the pressure exerted. However, simultaneously, the electric motor seized completely, bringing the car to a sudden stop. Had the engine not seized, they would have had no breaks and could have ended up under the traffic that had moved in front of them. The team member in charge of the motor said that when they were preparing for the trip he had considered how they would change the motor at the side of the road if that was ever necessary. Although this was a highly unlikely scenario, he was led to consider the entire process in advance. This difficult manoeuvre was easily carried out, the spare installed and they were back on the road within 30 minutes, not being overtaken by any other vehicle in that time. Their presentation was inspirational and I feel really gave the students more evidence of their unlimited ability as spiritual expressions of divine Mind. This belief is a cornerstone of the values we hold dear at Huntingtower and empowers everyone to achieve their goals.
The Fete is upon us!
I look forward to seeing everyone at the famous Huntingtower School Fete on Saturday 7 November. The PTA has done an enormous amount of work in organising the whole day and all they now need is your support. Please come along, bring your friends, neighbours, relatives and anyone you can bribe into coming. The food will be great, the rides are amazing and the silent auction, dad’s stall, bookstall, crafty things and cakes are all really good reasons to be there. The students have also organised many interesting stalls. Of course you will also be supporting your school.
This year the Fete includes the HOSA (Old students) sports matches. In the afternoon you will be able to watch games of soccer, basketball and hockey and hopefully see the students take back the trophy from HOSA. The Callaway cup (named for the previous principal) will be awarded at 4.00pm, by Mr Callaway himself.
The Year 12 students are in the middle of their final exams at present and by all reports are feeling well prepared. We continue to wish them well and know that they are expressing infinite (unlimited) intelligence and have all the answers that they need in every moment, because the same Mind that set the exam is answering it and assessing it. There is one Mind – God! We also know that they will get the score they need, in order to follow the path that they need to follow. “Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need”.
Fairly soon the Senior School will start their exams and I am sure that all the Senior School students have started preparing by revising their work and identifying any questions that they need to approach their teachers about.
