An instrument tuition form is attached to this newsletter – this need only be completed and returned to the Music Administrator (Vivienne Perry – Room MU8) by those students who wish to start an instrument. There are many great opportunities to be a part of this fabulous Music Department, so come along and give it a go!

HIRING A SCHOOL INSTRUMENT?

If you are hiring a school instrument, could your child please make sure that they visit Miss Vivienne Perry in MU8 before or after their music lesson as we are in the process of updating and checking off the inventory of hire instruments. We would appreciate your help in making sure that all students who are hiring are on our system.

SENIOR HOUSE MUSIC FESTIVAL: HOUSE MUSIC SOLOS

All musicians in Years 7 – 12 are invited to submit a piece for the House Solos. This year the Solo Auditions and Concert will be the same event. From February 25 – 28 (inclusive) each house will be represented by the soloists from Years 7 – 9 (at 5.00pm) and Years 10 – 12 (6.30pm). See the table below for the details.

Students have been asked to send the details of their solo pieces to Mrs Cochrane.

Deadline for solo entries: Friday 15 February

HOUSE ORCHESTRAS

Rehearsals for the House Orchestra are underway and despite Year 7 and Year 12 Camps, the turnout has been excellent. If you play an instrument and haven't yet received information from your House Music Captains about your House Orchestra, please see Mrs Cochrane in the Music Centre (MU2) as we value every player's contribution. Even if you have not been learning very long, we can include you in the orchestra (woodwind, brass, percussion and string players).

HOUSE CHOIRS

The first 'All School' rehearsal took place in the first week of term and the compulsory song 'Happy Together' (The Turtles) was starting to sound fabulous.
