CONCERTS ALREADY PERFORMED IN THE PAC

The magnificent Junior Orchestral and Choral Concert was held two weeks ago and it was sheer delight from start to finish. It was an opportunity to include all Junior students from Years Prep to 6 so the Little Choir and Little Symphony (Years Prep, 1 and 2) performed alongside the Junior Orchestra and Junior Choir (Years 3 to 6) and other ensembles including Junior Chamber choir, Year 3 and 4 Orchestra, Year 5 and 6 Orchestra and the Year 5 and 6 Percussion and Recorder Ensemble were also featured. There were constant special moments for the large and enthusiastic audience.

Sincere gratitude is extended to Ms Carly Major Gough who worked so hard with the children to produce such beautiful performances and to our very kind staff who helped organise the large numbers of students.

The String Orchestra Farewell Concert and Dinner was a wonderful event in which 300 enthusiastic audience members (including past String Orchestra players and past members of the touring staff) enjoyed an outstanding concert performance followed by a sumptuous dinner in the Orchestral Room. Hearty congratulations to every player who had worked so hard to reach such a high standard.

JUNIOR ORCHESTRA COMBINED CONCERT WITH PLC

The Junior Orchestra were very excited about the opportunity to perform in PLC's beautiful new Performing Arts Centre. Our orchestra combined with one of the PLC Junior Orchestras with each orchestra performing an individual work and then they combined together to perform two more works. All the students from both schools had a wonderful time interacting together and the PLC students are looking forward very much to visiting Huntingtower at a later date.

YEAR OF THE DOUBLE BASS!

The Double Bass is a spectacular instrument and is the extremely important foundation of any orchestra or band (Concert, Stage and Jazz). We have a wonderful Double Bass teacher and now we need some wonderful new Double Bass students!

The Double Bass is big but where possible students are able to keep one instrument at home and use one instrument at school (for only one hire charge.) Double Bass fees for lessons will be drastically reduced for the first two terms of tuition so do come along and try out a double bass and find out more about it – it is a great instrument to play!

HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS TO:

Anjali Sharma (Year 8) who received a High Distinction at the recent AMEB exams – a wonderful achievement.

Larissa Parkyn (Year 9) who was awarded an Honourable Mention in a solo singing section in the Ringwood Eisteddfod – another wonderful achievement!

ARE YOU GETTING MARRIED, HAVING A 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY PARTY OR ORGANISING A BUSINESS DINNER?

Huntingtower musicians would be very willing to provide a small (or large) ensemble to play beautiful music in a wide variety of styles at any occasion. They have a very comprehensive "gig" folder that includes many special requests. A small fee would be charged as fundraising for the Huntingtower Instrumental Fund.
