2017 ARTS IN THE ROUND
Arts in the Round was a wonderful Arts Festival held last Sunday. The Arts Festival was a huge success featuring all performing and visual arts (music, art, drama, poetry, media, Indonesian poetry and dance and visual communication).
Concerts during the afternoon featured wonderful choirs, orchestras, chamber choirs and concert band from the Middle School, Junior School and Senior School. Hearty congratulations and enormous thanks to the 400 musicians who performed so amazingly well. We were blessed with glorious weather and the sound rang out from the beautiful acoustic of the Orchestral Room.
Hearty congratulations also to all the performers and artists in the other artistic fields and thank-you to the many people who put so much time into the organization of it all and to all the staff who helped on the day. Special thanks also to Mrs Jan Tyquin, Mrs Lisa Sutton, Mrs Anne Wilson, Mrs Sharon Hunter, Mrs Jane Barker and Mr Tony Hill for giving enormous support especially to the music side the Festival.
YEAR 7 SOLO CONCERT
As the Bulletin goes to print this wonderful concert given by our very talented Year 7 performers will have been held. The students are working very hard and the concert will be an outstanding success.
The Huntingtower Mendelssohn Octet were invited to perform recently at a special masterclass at the Mimir International Chamber Music festival which was held at the University of Melbourne at the start of September. Based in Fort Worth Texas, the Mimir Festival has been listed as a 'summer hotspot' in the New York Times. The guest musicians who came to Melbourne to give concerts and masterclasses are all Principal players in the top American Orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our young talented players who were the only school group to perform. The four internationally acclaimed musicians who took the masterclass were very impressed with our musicians and the exciting occasion was streamed live internationally.
We have been treated to a magnificent array of Solo Concerts recently and we must congratulate every performer on the wonderful standard achieved.
Solo Concerts have been given by musicians in:
VCE Solo Performance Recitals
AMEB exam students
This term we will also look forward to a delightful Little Symphony Solo Concert on Tuesday 14 November at 6pm in the Orchestral Room.
Sincere appreciation is extended to Mr Murray Bishop who recently offered his mother's piano free of charge to a Huntingtower family. The response was wonderful and the piano is now settled in its new home with a very deserving student. What an amazingly generous gift from Murray and his family! Thank-you so much!
HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS AND SINCERE THANKS TO:
All the students who performed at various recitals during the recent holidays to help prepare for VCE and AMEB exams. Most of the students gave 2 recitals and they worked extremely hard on technical and musical challenges and undertook another huge challenge of performing the entire 30 minute recital from memory.
Mia Wu (Year 10) who received her A Mus A at the recent AMEB exams â€" a wonderful achievement to reach such a high standard!

The Citizenship Ceremony Ensemble who once again performed beautifully in a special and moving Citizenship Ceremony at Robert Blackwood Hall.
ARE YOU GETTING MARRIED, HAVING A 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY PARTY OR ORGANISING A BUSINESS DINNER?
Huntingtower musicians would be very willing to provide a small (or large) ensemble to play beautiful music in a wide variety of styles at any occasion. They have a very comprehensive gig folder that includes many special requests. A small fee would be charged as fundraising for the Huntingtower Music Department.
