Music Notes

CONCERT SERIES

There has been an amazing series of concerts over the last few weeks of Term 2 and hearty congratulations are extended to every student who performed so magnificently. At the end of Term, we experienced our magnificent Senior and Junior Choral and Orchestral Concert. This concert involved over 450 students from Years 3 to 12 performing in all our large orchestras, choirs, Concert Band and ensembles -  it is always an awe-inspiring sight to see so many young people moving quickly and quietly to their positions and then producing such high quality, beautiful music. We are certainly extremely proud of every musician involved -  the standard reached was amazing. We were extremely privileged to be able to perform in the beautiful acoustics of Robert Blackwood Hall which was a very special experience for both performers and also for the very large, enthusiastic audience.

Sincere gratitude is extended to our wonderful team -  Mrs Lisa Sutton (Senior Choral), Mrs Sharon Hunter (Year 7 and 8 Choir), Mrs Anne Wilson (Junior Choral) and to our very kind staff who volunteered to help organise the large numbers of students.

The Year 3 and 4 Solo Concert was another special concert and hearty congratulations is extended to all our talented musicians who performed so well as soloists and also in the Year 3 and 4 Orchestra. Once again the enthusiastic audience loved every performance.

The Senior Solo Concert at the end of Term 2 was a wonderful display of the great talent of our fine musicians at Huntingtower. Every performance was at a very high standard (Certificate of Performance, Associate and Licentiate levels) and hearty congratulations must be given to every student who performed.

The Junior Piano Concert was a great opportunity to hear all our talented pianists from Years 1 to 6. As in the Senior Solo Concert it is wonderful to hear a range of ages all performing at the same concert.

WAVERLEY EISTEDDFOD

The Waverley Eisteddfod Ensemble sections are usually held in the Huntingtower Performing Arts Centre but as the PAC is not available at the moment the performances will be held in the Orchestral Room. Thus the maximum number in the Large Ensemble sections has been lowered drastically so unfortunately none of our usual ensembles (Junior Orchestra, Middle School Orchestra, Concert Band, Senior Orchestra) are able to perform. We can look forward to some wonderful eisteddfod performances in our new PAC but at the moment only very small Large Ensembles are able to perform.
