Message from the Principal

Thought for the week:

"Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out."

I would like to share with you some wonderful words of wisdom that I am sure you have heard before. They have been expressed by leaders and thinkers for thousands of years.

Be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

Talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

Make all your friends feel that there is something special about them.

Look at the sunny side of everything.

Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best.

Be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

Give everyone a smile.

Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others.

Be too big for worry and too noble for anger.

We have just received the very exciting news that the Minister for Foreign Affairs, The Hon Julie Bishop MP, will officially open our new Performing Arts Centre on Friday, 17 August at approximately 3.00pm. The Minister will be assisted by our local Member, Ms Julia Banks MP. At this official opening, the Chisholm Volunteer Awards will be presented to members of the community by Ms Bishop. Parents will receive an official invitation to this exciting event shortly and will be able to book a seat online through Try Booking once all the details have been finalised.

We are currently entertaining students and teachers from our sister school Dwiwarna, in Bogor, Indonesia. We trust that they will have an enriching time and will forge new friendships that will help in the development of positive relationships between our schools, our cultures and our countries for years to come. Thank you to those families who are hosting these students and introducing them to the Australian way of life. Thank you to Ibu Timi for organising this exchange.

Two very successful tours took place during the Winter holiday. The String Orchestra trip to Europe was a great success and the Orchestra performed to numerous crowds, receiving standing ovations in many venues. Congratulations to Mrs Bramble and all the members of the touring Orchestra.

Fourteen of our Middle School students attended "Space Camp" in the USA and by all accounts had a wonderful time. They were awarded the "Most Outstanding Team" from amongst over 50 teams from all over the world. Thank you to Mrs Alles for accompanying the group. Mr Hellard also attended a teacher's "Space Camp" and had a wonderful experience.

The Junior School Music Concert was held at the end of Term 2 and the Senior School Orchestral and Choral evening was held earlier this week. Congratulations to all performers, comperes and to the staff involved. We express our gratitude to Lynley Bramble, Lisa Sutton, Rhianwen Bramble and Sharon Hunter for all their hard work in training our Orchestras and Choirs. I would also like to thank Carly Major-Gough again for her wonderful work with our Junior School Choirs.

We welcome a new member of staff to the Senior School this Term. Mr Andrew Sankey joins the Business Management and Global Politics team following the sudden departure of Mrs Webb. Mr Sankey has over 20 years of teaching experience and I know he will further enrich our teaching team. Please make him welcome.

The P&F are hard at work preparing for our upcoming school Fete which will be held on Saturday 10 November. You will all be contacted to see how you would like to contribute to this wonderful event. If your business has access to products that we could use as prizes or products we could sell or place in our Silent Auction, please drop them in at the School Office or for large quantities please contact the Office to ask about delivery options. We will also be asking you all to contribute on the actual Fete day, either setting up, serving or cleaning up at the end. We will be grateful for any assistance that you can provide. We would also love to hear from any companies that would like to sponsor a ride, a stall or simply make a donation to the Fete proceeds. This is going to be a wonderful community-building event and I look forward to seeing you all at Huntingtower on that day.
