Message from the Principal

Thought for the week:

"Aspire to be a giver. A giver of inspiration, a giver of hope, a giver of light and a giver of love."

Yippee! Yay! Joy and celebrations!

Our new Huntingtower Performing Arts Centre is now fully functional and open. The staff and students are excitedly using it and as time goes by I am sure that you will all have an opportunity to see it in all its glory. We will be having an official opening later in the year for which tickets will become available. I am extremely grateful to all those who have financially supported this building program and a special viewing and tour will be arranged for these people.

The landscaping will take a while and our gardeners will have a lot of fun creating beautiful gardens for us to enjoy around the building.

Grateful thanks to the builders (SJ Higgins) and architects (Baldasso Cortese) and to the Huntingtower School Board for their support of the project. Thanks to our finance department led by Rob Kitchingman and Tania Parkyn for making sure we can pay for it and to our own maintenance team for the peripheral work they have had to do to ensure the smooth operation of the school during the past 7 terms of construction.

Thank you to all the parents for your patience with traffic flow issues while the building was occurring, and to the staff and students who have patiently used alternative venues during this period.

I am quite sure that the school will benefit enormously by having such a spectacular facility which will enable the school to move to new heights in its music, drama and all other performance activities.

This week we held our Annual ANZAC service in our new PAC and it was a wonderful event conducted totally by the students themselves. The Chamber Choir and Orchestra provided a beautiful blend of peace and hope to all assembled and the student readers and presenters were excellent. I am very grateful to Mr Adam Somes who organised the entire event – the first in our new Performing Arts Centre.

On Tuesday 1 May our Senior School Athletics team competes in the EISM Athletics Carnival at Albert Park. I am grateful to all the students and the coaches who have prepared them for this event. We wish them well.

We have such a vibrant and enthusiastic Parents and Friends Association (P&F) and I am extremely grateful to all those involved. The Fete Committee of the P&F are already deep into their planning and I know it is going to be a wonderful event. If any parent can assist with any form of sponsorship, donation or support we would be grateful to hear from you. If you would like to become involved in the preparation for the Fete or can assist in some way please let us know. Your class Fete Rep will be contacting you to ask for assistance at the Fete. I know that you will all want to contribute in whatever way you can.
