Thought for the week:
"We do not heal the past by dwelling there; we heal the past by living fully in the present."
I love Chuang Zhu's statement that happiness is the absence of striving for happiness. When we live in the present, we have nothing to strive for; nothing to long for and nothing that we cannot experience by changing our own thought. Happiness is a consequence of knowing (really knowing) your true relationship to God, Love and therefore, who you really are (Nosce Te Ipsum). Happiness is a choice, sadness is a choice. Joy is a choice, misery is a choice. Blame is a choice, forgiveness is a choice. In every present moment we design the next moment and we have a choice as to what that will be. It is only in the present moment that we actually live.
Our Year 12 students have almost all finished their final exams. Just a few still to complete next week. I would like to congratulate all the students and their teachers for their hard work and dedication to achieving the best possible outcome. No matter the final result we could not ask more of each one of you. Thank you so much.
The Year 10 and 11 students commence their exams this week (Y11) and next week (Y10). The rest of the Senior School a week later. A reminder that in order to go home once a student's exams are over for the day, they may only do so if a parent permission form has been submitted.
Congratulations to the Junior School Tournament of Minds Science and Technology team on coming second in the Australasian Pacific Championships held in Adelaide. Thanks to Mrs Swan and Ms Cummins for coaching and accompanying the students.
The Junior School Swimming Carnival was held in great spirit this week. It was run extremely efficiently and the standard was amazing. Grateful thanks to all the parents who assisted with scoring, timekeeping, photography and other tasks. Also, thanks to the Junior School staff for their work and especially to Joanna Clapp for her immaculate organisation The HSAC staff were wonderful and special thanks are due to Helen and Brendan for all their training and management of the Centre.
The Parents & Friends Trivia Night was a wonderful success. Thank you to Stuart Canning, Ben Ferguson and the P&F team and to Noel Davies who was the Trivia Master. Noel spent many hours preparing questions and activities to create a really fun evening and we are very grateful. The Silent Auction also helped to raise funds for the P&F and the two amazing Christmas Cakes made and decorated by Mary Hunt were absolutely stunning. We are so grateful to Mary for all she does in the HT Canteen and also for events such as this.
We have many events coming up over the next four weeks and I hope to see you at one of them.
