Message from the Principal

Thought for the week:  “There is no better lesson than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time.” MalcolmX   Many of our students and graduates are truly inspirational and I would like to mention one to you today. Sally Fyfield who graduated in 2010 has had a difficult road and has demonstrated the resilience, determination and self- belief that inspires all of us. Sally was one of our top athletic performers throughout her schooling and won the highest possible awards in Athletics, Swimming, Cross Country,...

Message from the Principal

Thought for the week:   “God has given you one face and you make yourself another!” William Shakespeare     I remember one of my guides, the late Robert Owen, saying to me, “we all put on masks that enable us to play different roles in our lives”. Thought for the week:  “The depth, breadth, height, might, majesty, and glory of infinite Love, fill all space. That is enough!” Mary Baker Eddy    A big focus for the school this year has been on “Mindfulness” which forms the basis of resilience, and the presentation given by Hugh van Cuylenberg of “The Resilience Project” was enthusiastically received by many parents last Monday night. I thank Mrs Borbely for arranging this and many other outstanding talks for our staff and students. The students in Years 10, 11 and 12 will also receive this excellent training later this term.  The Resilience Project’s...

Message from the Principal

A number of parents have spoken to me about the recent debate around the vaccination of children and the exemption that members of the Christian Science Church had from having to undertake such vaccinations. I am sure that you are aware that the exemption that came into being in 1998 has now been rescinded. You may also be aware that Christian Scientists turn to prayer as a first course of action when challenged by any issue, be it physical, emotional, or even financial.  In the book, Miscellany, Mrs Eddy had this to say about vaccination. “Rather than quarrel over vaccination,...

Message from the Principal

Thought for the week:  “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud”.                                                 Maya Angelou   This week the Year 7 students were presented with their new iPads. With the ease of access to so much on line material these days it is essential to go back to the fundamentals. It seems that we cannot emphasise enough, the importance of always being kind; kind and respectful of ourselves and kind and respectful of others. As children (and adults) struggle with new technology, connectivity, cyberspace and the whole digital experience, we must ensure that they get some understanding that what they express...
